Anna's Owwie - 12/9/08

This morning was not fun. Halle tipped over our smaller Christmas Tree in the front room, breaking many of the ornaments. I didn't even want to look at it because I was so upset. I've been collecting my Christmas ornaments for at least 15 years now, probably longer. Friends and family bring me them from all around the world, I pick up one every trip I go on, I buy one for special occasions that I want to remember.

When I finally tried to look at what the damage was, Anna was playing with broken pieces and she was bleeding all over. She had a gash in her thumb. I couldn't get the bleeding to stop. I called Roberta Lay at our Pediatricians and she said to bring her in. We hadn't even gotten dressed yet. I was running around frantically trying to get clothes on the girls and I. I couldn't find an thing to wrap her thumb in for the drive to the doctor. I ended up using a paper towel and sport tape. Anna didn't even cry until I tried to keep pressure on the cut and clean it out. Of course the bleeding stooped by the time we arrived at the doctor and the cut wasn't so bad. I wouldn't have taken her in if I could have stopped the bleeding. Roberta and Dr. Suzie (yes she has the same name as me) cleaned out the cut really well and glued strips around it. I doubt Anna will leave it on very long.
Six special ornaments are broken. Including one from my A'capella trip in 97', my Senior Trip in 97', and several Mickey Mouse ornaments that my parents gave me in a set that I've had for 10 plus yrs. Most of them can be super glued but a couple are not fixable. Oh well, at least Anna is okay.
