Mike wanted to go out hunting this weekend since the archery hunt opened. Originally he was going to go on his own and meet his sister Eydie and her husband Richard up at Trout Creek. Then he thought he would see if he could use his dad's trailer and all of us go with him. It worked out so we could borrow it and we all went with. We brought all our 4-wheelers and a couple of my dads along too. It rained Friday night and Saturday morning, so glad we had the trailer!! (Thanks Ed and Diane!) Then it cleared up and was beautiful the rest of the weekend. Mike didn't get an Elk but he had fun with the kids.
Halle wanted to go hunting with daddy. So Mike got out Jayce's old camo and brought it with. He took her up the canyon a little way on the 4-wheeler and found a trail then hiked for about 30 minutes until Halle declared she was too tired. She just chatted the whole way, (so much for sneaking up on an animal) she picked some flowers and wanted to put them in her hair and thought they would look so pretty on the table at dinner. That's hunting princess style I guess! At least Mike was nice enough to take her "hunting." What a funny girl.
While Mike and the boys were gone Anna would ask me "where's daddy?" I told her he was trying to catch a deer. She was so excited, she said, "I want to catch a deer! I want to pet it! I want to catch a baby deer!" I was a little worried if daddy did catch an Elk how Anna would react when it was deader than a doornail, I guess she could still pet it! Hee Hee
Jayce really wanted to drive the 4-wheelers around. We would let him drive the little 90 around camp but I wouldn't let him out on the road. He was really disappointed that I would let his cousins who were teenagers but not him. We've got to get him into the class so he can get his permit to drive them I guess. He loved riding that little 4-wheeler around, although I think next time we take it out I'm going to figure out how to disconnect the horn. That got old in a hurry.
We had a really great time. The kids had a ton of fun riding the 4-wheelers around and playing with a Kelli and Maddie their cousins. I got to visit with my sister in-law and build the best campfire with out help from any boys. It was also just good to get away from the worries here at home and work. Great idea Mike!
